As reported yesterday, the United States Supreme Court will hear a case on laws to limit funeral pickets by anti-gay extremist Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church. Kansas Attorney General Steve Six wants to intervene in opposition to Phelps.

The Oklahoma legislature is considering laws to combat the state’s high divorce rate. One proposal would mandate counselling before a marriage or divorce. Some conservative lawmakers oppose the proposal, saying it’s government involvement in a private matter. Critics claim these lawmakers are hypocrites for supporting state involvement in abortion and same-sex marriage.
